Painting of the Entire School Campus

In January 2019 we had the entire interior and exterior of the Osu Presbyterian Girls School painted. As you can see from the before and after pics, the walls were previously covered in chipped, discolored paint. When the girls returned from their holiday break, they were able to return to bright, freshly painted walls that reflect the value we see in them and their education. Click through the pics to get a glimpse at all the hard work that went into the beautiful results!

Installation of White Boards

When we visited Osu Presbyterian Girls School in August 2017, a specific request from the teachers was to have new white boards installed in their classrooms. The white boards they were using were so old and stained from years of use, that they could no longer be fully cleaned. Due to several generous donations, we were able to purchase the supplies to have new white boards installed in the classrooms, allowing the teachers to now lead their lessons on brand new, clean boards!

Service Project

The Susana Lankai Debrah Educational Foundation (SLDEF) hosted a service project at Osu Presbyterian Girls School

In August 2017, the Susana Lankai Debrah Educational Foundation (SLDEF) hosted a 1-day service project at Osu Presbyterian Girls School in Accra, Ghana. Approximately 160 students, along with SLDEF board members from the US and Ghana, school administration, and teachers spent several hours cleaning the entire school and surrounding campus. As one of the key missions of SLDEF is to support capital improvements to the campus, it was so inspiring to come together with the girls on improving their school. They are such an amazing, hard working, intelligent group of young ladies!!

College Tour to Ashesi University

On August 22, 2017, what  would have been Susana Lankai Debrah’s 70th birthday, SLDEF hosted a college tour for 20 girls from Osu Presbyterian Girls School to Ashesi University, one of the top universities in all of Africa.

Read the words from Joyce Debrah-Sheppard, daughter of Susana and President of SLDEF describing the day: “While still in a lot of pain from her departure, I managed to find some joy in taking 20 junior high girls from Osu, Accra to Ashesi University so they can imagine their future possibilities. It didn't seem like this visit would happen but I recently heard Oprah say, "when someone you love dies, you now have an angel who you know by name." I believe that because Angel Susana had my plane delayed just long enough for my brother to "run into" the Provost at the airport whose name happened to be Suzanne. They exchanged emails and said the visit wouldn't happen then at the last minute, all of a sudden, August 22nd (her birthday) happened to be available. Thank you Maa. You've always been an angel now I know my very own heavenly angel by name. Her name is Susana Lankai Debrah.”

Team Building Day

In August 2017,  SLDEF President, Joyce Debrah-Sheppard, Vice President Kate Pressler, and Board Member, Dinah Debrah spent the day facilitating fun team-building and reflection activities with 30 of the girls from Osu Presbyterian Girls school. These 30 girls were selected based on their hard work during the service day. It was fun getting to know these girls and learn about their aspirations and motivations.

Donation of Desks

After seeing that the girls at Osu Presbyterian Girls School were having to share old church pews for their desks, due to many small donations and a significant one, in June 2017, the Susana Lankai Debrah Educational Foundation delivered 100 brand new built "mono-desks" to the Osu Presbyterian School for Girls. SLDEF is fulfilling its mission of improving the learning environment of the students. This is only the beginning...we will keep doing more. Here are some pics from the day the desks were installed!
